PM: We Will Continue Work with ICAPP toward Peace and Prosperity in Asia

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the Cambodian government’s position to continue to actively participate in the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) to achieve their common mission for a peaceful and prosperous Asia.

The PM met with ICAPP President Chung Eui-yong on December 14 to exchange views and visions for the mission of the political conglomerate comprised of 49 member states. The president thanked Cambodia for hosting the ICAPP General Assembly in 2010 and the upcoming assembly in 2024.

He expressed confidence that under the leadership of PM Hun Manet, Cambodia will continue strong development towards achieving its vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050.

He also briefed the PM on the ICAPP’s important activities in promoting cooperation and exchange of views between political parties in Asia.

In response, the PM warmly welcomed the presence of the former South Korean Foreign Affairs Minister and congratulated him on his re-appointment as ICAPP President. He also thanked the ICAPP for sending observers to Cambodia’s general election in July.

"The presence and statement of the ICAPP on the reality of democracy in Cambodia is truly contributing to the protection of the legitimacy, fairness and sovereignty of Cambodia's elections," he said.

He stressed that the Cambodian government will continue to actively participate in the ICAPP to achieve the common goal of a peaceful and prosperous Asia.

He also reminded the ICAPP delegation that under the leadership of former PM Hun Sen, Cambodia achieved economic growth and poverty reduction, as well as ensuring peace, stability and the democratic process.
